The Bulldog The First

The Bulldog was the first coffeeshop that was issued a license to sell soft drugs.

The Bulldog was issued the first license but they didn’t come up with the idea of coffeeshops.

The Mellow Yellow actually started the coffeeshop movement.

Nowadays The Bulldog is a coffeeshop chain running multiple shops all over Amsterdam.

Since the year 2007 Amsterdam is developing Project 1020 which will transform the red light district. Today almost all coffeeshops in De Wallen are already closed. Many Windows will close down as well. The city tries to get a better image, and weed out the red light and drugs image from the city center. Lets hope that at least some historic places can continue in the red light district.
